Zambia’s finest designer Faith Kabende lit up Paris

It was a weekend of razzmatazz and glamour as Zambia’s finest designer Faith Kabende of Fay Designz showed the world that Zambia has talent and an eye for fashion when she showcased her Afrocentric Ethnic inspired collection.

The event was organised by Legendary Gold Limited in collaboration with the World Fashion Organization, Paris Luxury Events and the Embassy of Nigeria in France presented the Africa Fashion Reception of the World Fashion Week at the prestigious Salle Wagram which is located in the exclusive and very Porsche 17th district of Paris.

The Africa Fashion Reception featured the collection of 16 leading African designers from 16 African countries. These designers were carefully selected to represent their countries from a pool of applicants from the various countries based on their look book submitted months earlier.

Participating designers by country includes Anggy Haif, Cameroun, Francois 1er, Burkina Faso, Fay designs, Zambia, ,B’Exotiq by Bee Arthur, Ghana, Kipusa, Kenya, Moie, Liberia, Maria Bocoum, Mali, Siham El Habti, Morocco, Frank Osodi, Nigeria, Lilly Alfonso, Malawi, Dady de Maximo, Rwanda, Nafytoo, Senegal, Diana Fashion, Tanzania, JSE Couture, South Africa.

The event gathered the very exclusive French and African audience led by the Nigerian Ambassador to France who was represented by Kenneth Nwanchukwu, Minister in charge of economic, investment and trade in the Nigerian Embassy ,Chairman/CEO, World Fashion Week and members of the Board of Governors of the World Fashion Organization.

High profile ‘ who is who’ individuals in France attended this exclusive event. Others that made the guest list included Ambassadors from over 12 countries, Dame Abimbola Fashola, First Lady of Lagos State, Mrs Merit Gordon Obua, Wife of the CSO to the Nigerian President, Aisha Babangida-Shinkafi, Alex Oriaku, Consul General, Nigerian Embassy, Dele Momodu, famous designer Alphadi and son, etc.

The global fashion press and buyers were not left out as they all had fulfilled day with the quality of what the designers presented.

Faith Kabende could not hide her joy of having achieved her dream ambition of showcasing in a world fashion Headquarter. Offers of work keep pouring in and Faith simply said ‘I am living my dream, I had dreamt of such an opportunity it simply feels surreal’.

While Faith was busy in Paris she spread her tentacles in Kosovo where her designs worn by Kalwa Musonda Miss Photogenic in 2012 Miss Southern Africa Zambia sashayed down the runway in Fay’s Traditional costume in Fay’s signature ethnic colours during the Traditional costume round and a Snowhite evening gown bedazzled with crystals in the Evening wear round.

Faith is already booked to showcase at the London Africa Fashion Week in August. She will also have many ready to wear pieces for sale in London where she already has a list of prospective buyers.
